I've always been outside IR35 even when contracting in the UK so this doesn't make any difference to me. The fact that contract rates to us haven't really changed in 22 years pisses me off though. My rate in 2000 was 150 quid more than I'm getting today. Yes cunts like Atos and Cronus are taking large margins but agencies generally keep their margins around 15%.

Everyone has spent the last three years transitioning to the new rules, then they change the rules again.
Yesterday’s budget was a shit show. Swiss will probably be happy though, with his six-figure salary.
I’ve got a feeling this Kwasi bloke is as good at maths as Diane Abbott.

These firms will get their appetite for back contractors back. If they can pay 600-800 a day rather than 1200-1500 a day through cunts like Deloitte or Atkins they're going to do it. Contractors win because they already raised their day rates to compensate for IR35 and now they can go back to tax dodging like pre IR35 days. Everyone wins. Probably.

Its not scrapped, they have revoked the 2017 and 2021 amendments.
All it means is the contractor is now responsible for their employment status rather than the businesses public or private recruiting them.
In my opinion for the IT industry I work in, the damage has been done and the appitite of companies hiring contractors through anything other than umbrellas and preferred suppliers (mainly offshore) is not going to change quickly. It is very likely to be followed by amendments to IR35 that screw the contractors and make it not worthwhile to reform a company.
This is a move to stop the massive amounts of money owed by public bodies that have miscalculated contractor status. Something which was repeatedly argued would happen before they rushed to implement it.

This always struck me as a piece if cobbled legislation introduced because (too many of) the wrong sort of people were starting to take advantage of tax concessions introduced only for the benefit of the right sort of person.

It's not being scrapped....... I believe the contractor will now be responsible for the declaration rather than the end client.
The legislation still stands.

I closed my LTD Company when that loophole was closed.
Not sure I can be bothered with starting another one up now though.
